Empathy – the ability to recognize emotions in others and have the ability to feel or understand what they feel – is essential to human cooperation and functioning. And, when it comes to leadership, empathy is critical to building teamwork, motivating employees, and understanding their needs. True kindness comes from a place that is genuine. It is done to be of service to others, out of genuine care and concern. Authentic kindness carries no expectation of receiving anything in return.
