Common Myths About Mindfulness Practice

The misunderstanding of the concept of mindfulness has led to numerous myths.
Here are the most common ones we hear.

MYTH: I’m Too Busy for This

We can all relate to having too much on our plates.

The good news is that you can develop a mindfulness practice that integrates into your daily routine without adding something else to your heavy to-do list. You can practice during your commute, mealtime, or between tasks or meetings. Levelhead is meant to integrate into your day. It can be done during your commute, at lunch, or between tasks or meetings – all with your eyes open. And each exercise is just a few minutes long.

What’s even more important to acknowledge is that these brief practices can help you become more productive and focused with the time you have. Taking a few minutes to breathe, reset, and clear out the clutter of our minds can make us more focused and productive.

MYTH: Takes Too Much Time

The Levelhead program was designed for real people who don’t have much time. It’s the reason WHY it was created. We realize many people don’t have an extra 30 or even 20 minutes to carve out for mindfulness practice. But we still wanted to see if short micro-bursts of practice worked too.

So, we created Levelhead. And research shows that even just a few minutes each day provides the same benefits as longer practice – especially if you practice consistently.

Our exercises are bite-sized – averaging just 3-5 minutes each and can be easily integrated into your day. They’re built for real life and busy people like you. They don’t require that you close your eyes or even find a place to recline.

MYTH: No Place to Meditate

Meditation and mindfulness are terms often used interchangeably, leaving many confused or thinking they’re the same. So, it’s a common misconception when people think the Levelhead program is a meditation program. While we include a few brief meditation exercises, it’s just a small part of our overall exercises.
