If I Could Do Anything
So often we are taught to limit our thoughts and focus on the things that have been defined as possible. It is often in dreaming big that we find our purpose. Purpose is a path, not a destination. By exploring our greatest dreams, we discover keys to the purpose that would give us the most joy.
Using Our Intuition
You may have found that you receive answers to questions that you are seeking at unusual times. When you take a moment to examine those times, you may have discovered that giving yourself the space to receive the guidance you are seeking. This process is known as intuition. Intuition is the process of perceiving or knowing something without conscious reasoning. Answers may come right away, or later when you are no longer thinking about it. When we tune into this “knowing”, we may also discover that we are guided not only by our mind alone but also by the body’s entire psychophysiological system. This knowing often is accompanied by subtle changes in emotions and physiological changes that can be measured throughout the body, (McCraty, et. al., 2004).
Every so often, most of us take a moment to look at our life and daydream about how our future will look. Instead of logically thinking about the future, how about considering the future by tapping into your intuition and allow your whole body to guide you.
This process involves tapping into your inner stillness, to tap into your heart and visualize the future. From this place of stillness, you can get a glimpse into a future. One that fills your heart with joy whenever you imagine it.
Try this exercise to help you find your place of future possibility.
Step 1: Find a time to meditate or to take a mindful walk. Use whichever centering technique you like best. Relax and allow yourself to come completely into the present. What do you notice? What do you feel, smell, see, sense, feel?
Step 2: Ask the question – If I could do anything, what would I do?
Step 3: Let go of the question. Come back to the present. What do you notice? What do you feel, smell, see, sense, feel?
Step 4: You are probably having something come to you. Is it an answer to the question? Or is it something else, perhaps a sense or a feeling? Don’t judge, just watch what arises.
Step 5: Continue the meditation or the walk until you feel complete. Then write down the things that came. You may find they have some information for you.
Continuing to repeat this practice over the next few days may be helpful in obtaining more clarity. Please be patient. Remember what comes up for you now may evolve and change over time.
